OptSeq provides an optimal scheduling decision for manufacturing. It finds an optimal sequencing of tasks (activities, jobs) and an allocation of tasks to resources. OptSeq is based on an advanced metaheuristic algorithm developed by Dr. Nonobe and Dr. Ibaraki. The algorithm is based on modern tabu search metaheuristics that computes a near optimal solution of large real instances very quickly. The quality of solution is usually much better than the one obtained by dispatching rules.
